VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

To strengthen our Credit team, we seek to recruit a qualified, results-oriented, and proactive individual for the position of Assistant Credit Officer on Contract Basis.
Job Purpose
To support effective loan processing, disbursement, monitoring, and recovery in line with approved policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement SACCO lending policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Undertake the loan application processing, credit assessment, approval recommendations, disbursement, and repayment monitoring.
- Support the maintenance of portfolio quality with a PAR (Portfolio at Risk) below 2%, initiating recovery measures for delinquent accounts.
- Ensure proper collateral management, loan security documentation, and safe custody of member securities.
- Monitor member credit ratings, manage CRB listings, and process insurance claims for deceased members.
- Conduct credit risk assessments and recommend strategies to mitigate emerging risks.
- Participate in product review and development to ensure competitive and sustainable credit offerings.
- Build and maintain relationships with members, employers, and stakeholders to support member growth and retention.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 1 year relevant experience in a SACCO, bank, microfinance, or other regulated financial institution.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of CPA Part II qualification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial management systems (Navision, Dynamics 365).
- Successful candidates will be expected to submit documentation and demonstrate compliance with the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
Key Competencies & Skills
- Credit Risk Management – Ability to assess, monitor, and manage loan portfolio quality.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting – Strong skills in evaluating creditworthiness and producing actionable reports.
- Regulatory Compliance – In-depth knowledge of SACCO regulations, CRB processes, and lending laws in Kenya.
- Member Relationship Management – Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to foster trust and loyalty.
- Data Management – Proficiency in credit systems, CRMs, and portfolio monitoring tools.
